The thickness of a dry-lined wall depends on the board, fixing system, frame and insulation used. Standard plasterboard is commonly 9.5 mm or 12.5 mm thick, although specialist boards may be thicker. When plasterboard is attached directly to masonry with adhesive, the completed lining may add approximately 20 to 40 mm to the wall.
